Welcome to the 2010 - 2011 school year at Barnwell Middle School. My name is Mr. James Allison and I am excited to be back teaching 8th Grade American History at Barnwell. In addition to teaching American History, I coach Intramurals and I am the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Coach here at Barnwell.
I grew up the son of an Army Officer and I have lived all over the world. When my dad retired, we moved to Saint Charles and I graduated from Francis Howell North. My parents still live here in Saint Charles and I have a sister that attended Barnwell. I am married with two great kids. My wife, Kim and I live in Saint Charles county with our son, Zach, and our daughter, Ainsley. They both attend Central Elementary School. After graduating from North, I joined the Army Reserves and spent some time doing what military people do. After starting a family and nearly a decade in the Car Business, I decided to go back to school to get my degree in history so that I could teach. I went to Lindenwood University where I studied History and earned my Certification in both Middle School and High School. I currently attend Lindenwood's graduate school and I am working toward my Masters in Education with an Emphasis in Interpretation. It is a great study course for a History Teacher. I also volunteer as an interpreter at the Daniel Boone Home in Defiance, MO where I have a great time interpreting history to visitors. I love technology and use it every day in my class. As a result, we will be engaging in some great 21st century learning opportunities while studying history through the Civil War.
